Iceberg, Wave, Field, Dome, and Sky

While I was out doing my usual shopping rounds I happened to purchase a copy of National Geographic magazine. The cover was splurged with a picture of a nebulae somewhere far off in the galaxy and as I was flipping through the pictures, a passerby looked at it and said, “Those are beautiful pictures.”
I smiled and nodded in agreement.
“They are beautiful,” I replied. “I’m going to put them all over my walls when I get home.” I laughed and he laughed too.
“Are you going to look at them and say to yourself ‘ I’m going there someday’ ?”
I just stared at him for a second almost not stunned.
“That’s exactly what I’m going to do,” I said with genuine enthusiasm.
He smiled again and said, “Hope you make it there someday.”
“I will,” I answeredwith confidence.
And he walked off.

I put those pictures up on my wall tonight and all the stars and galaxies are now winking down at me. I can stare at them with wanderlust stirring in my heart and a sweet desire to build a rocket and fly off to the distant worlds that have yet to be explored.
Every time I see them now, I whisper in my heart “I’m going there someday,” whatever it may take. I will touch and taste every star. I will magnify and dream in every galaxy. And I will sail and traverse every nebulae that lays out in the vast skies. Boy will I have stories to tell my kids.

As I now gaze upon every picture that is taped or tacked on my wall, I am promising that one day  I will visit ever location whether it be in my dreams or in real life. I will make it there eventually. Every iceberg, wave, field, dome, and sky …I will be coming for a visit soon. Be prepared. Because I will soak up the hours and never forget them for as long as we both shall live.
